Bike Maintenance 101

$ 110.00 CAD

About the Workshop

BIKE MAINTENANCE 101 // APRIL 8TH @6p to 8:30p

LOCATION: The Hive North Shore, 2270 Dollarton Hwy #140, North Vancouver, BC V7H 1A8

What are the actual names of the bike parts? How do you fix a flat tire? How do you decide to change a flat vs. get a new tube? How do you look less like a hot mess when you need to go to the nearest bike shop?

In this workshop we're partnering with the badasses at Sidesaddle Bikes to help you get to know your ride inside and out and, more importantly, how to fix a flat tire! You'll not only get hands-on training and to help you be better prepared when you hit the pavement, but you'll get all the tools you need too!

Included:

- Bike Maintenance Kit ($35 value) including a multitool, tire levers, and patch kit

- A Bad Tote ($25 value) and a Betty Bad sticker!

- A free day pass to the Hive to use whenever you want or to pass to a pal! ($30+ value)

- 2.5 hours of hands on instruction from Sidesaddle's amazing mechanic Johanna ($200 value)

All totalling a $290 value!

About the Instructor and Shop

Andrea Smith opened Sidesaddle Bikes in 2015 as the first explicitly women-focused bike shop in Canada after noticing many retail shops are still decidedly male-focused, with maybe a small section in the corner dedicated to women’s products. “There are some commonalities to women’s experiences, and I think the industry could do a much better job of meeting the needs that women do have. Women tend to combine multiple trips into one, you’re picking your kid up at daycare and you’re carrying a purse and briefcase but it’s raining on you and you need gear that can help you do all of that.”

Our awesome workshop will be taught by Johanna who has been involved in the bike industry for 8 years as a mechanic, educator, and advocate. She is currently a staff mechanic at Sidesaddle Bikes as well as a board member for Our Community Bikes and a Kickstand volunteer.

NOTES:

  • Please bring your own bike and any required tools/keys to take your wheels off
  • Hive members get 15% off! Please email us at hello@thebadacademy.com to confirm your membership and receive a promo code for checkout!

Refund Policy: Tickets are transferable, but unfortunately not refundable at The Bad Academy. We're a crazy small organization and operate on razor-thin margins, and as much as we'd like to account for life getting in the way, we have been burned too many times by no-shows, and last-minute refund requests etc. If you'd like to transfer your ticket to a friend, please email us at hello@thebadacademy.com with the name and email of the person taking your place, and we'll make sure to make the appropriate changes!
