About The Workshop

OCTOBER 14TH, SATURDAY @ 11A - 2P

CRAFTSMAN COLLISION, 5608 Imperial Street, Burnaby

The workshop that started it all is BACK!

Car Maintenance 101 is back and our friends at Craftsman Collision are hosting the Baddies in their amazing facility to teach you all the basics on how to maintain your whip!

How is the suspension of your car? Which fluids need to be filled and monitored in your car? How are your brakes doing and is it normal for them to make that sound?! HOW DO YOU CHANGE A TIRE?!

In this workshop you'll get to know the basics of car maintenance and more importantly, what to do in an emergency situation. We will walk through the anatomy of a car, why car maintenance is so important, and give you a guided tour and hands-on demonstration of what's good under the hood! You'll walk away from this workshop with more confidence on the road and in your driveway as well as a handy Winter roadside safety kit thanks to our friends at Canadian Tire worth a value of $55!

We'll cap off the workshop with a panel of expert women who work in the auto industry who will answer your burning questions and recount their experiences of working in the auto industry/trades. Our friends at BCIT will also be attending to tell you all about amazing opportunities for women in the trades programs and upcoming opportunities to receive FREE tuition!

Thank you to our partner Craftsman Collision for not only hosting this workshop, but being amazing supporters of our mission to help women be more self-sufficient and self-confident! We are so grateful to the Craftman Collision team and our generous sponsors for making this workshop financially accessible to our community.

Craftsman Collision is thrilled to be partnering with The Bad Academy to empower women and provide attendees with a unique experience to gain knowledge and hands on learning about car maintenance. Since 1977, giving back to the communities in which they do business has been one of the pillars to their continued success. Craftsman has a deep commitment to serve the communities where we live and work, and hosting a women’s Car Maintenance 101 workshop is just one more way to positively connect with our customers.

Thank you  to our generous community sponsors!

About The Instructor(s)

Bobbie Temple (She/Her) is part of a growing group at Craftsman Collision: female shop managers. She’s  been a member of the large Craftsman family since 2005, beginning at our Coquitlam shop as a detailer, then enrolling in the autobody apprenticeship program in 2006 and launching a new career as a body technician.

In 2013 she decided to further her education in the field by taking two levels of the autobody estimator program. Smart move – she finished at the top of her class, then went on to gather valuable experience at various Craftsman locations including Coquitlam, Port Moody, Maple Ridge and North Van West, working in parts, estimating and assistant manager roles.

In 2014 she departed the Lower Mainland to help out in our Kelowna shop, then to our Kamloops location in 2017 and finally to Vernon in 2019, wearing her first manager’s hat.
