Time to cut it up with your favourite Bad crew and our community pals at She Summits! If you're as obsessed with eating and cooking like us, this is the workshop you've been waiting for! Join Bad Academy and She Summits at the gorgeous Two Rivers Meats as we learn the in's and out's of butchering a whole chicken. We've designed this workshop to be interactive, comprehensive, and, of course, loads of fun for those of us who are curious about incorporating the entire chicken into our cooking practice! Not only will you get hands-on experience, but you'll also take home your freshly butchered chicken, new cooking skills, tips on making the most of your chicken, and maybe even a new set of knives courtesy of our pals at House of Knives!

This workshop includes:

  • 90 minute workshop on butchering from Head Butcher and owner of The Little Butcher, Taryn Barker (all materials provided)
  • A plentiful appitizer spread, tallow cookies, and 2 drinks per person courtesy of Two Rivers Meats
  • A whole chicken (that you butchered) to take home
  • A $10 Two Rivers Meats gift card to use the next time you visit
  • A raffle ticket for a chance to win a brand new knife set valued at $200 courtesy of House of Knives

About the Instructor:

Taryn Barker (She/Her), Head Butcher and Owner of The Little Butcher

Help Taryn fundraise for Butchery Team Canada!

Taryn Barker has held numerous positions in the meat and food industries for over 20 years. She started out her career at the age of fifteen as a customer server in a small family run butcher shop, and just celebrated the 13th anniversary as owner and head butcher of The Little Butcher in Port Moody BC. The Little Butcher practices whole animal butchery and works strictly with B.C. meat producers.

Taryn is constantly pushing herself to try new things and has had the opportunity to travel abroad and compete in butchery competitions in New Zealand and Brazil. Through online tryouts in 2018, she became a member of the first Canadian butcher team, Butchery Team Canada. The national team competed for the first time in The World Butchers Challenge in September 2022 and then again in Paris, France this past March. Taryn will be the Captain of the 2028 team.
